Undergraduate Scholarships
Due to our generous donors, Oceanography can offer a broad spectrum of scholarship support.
We award numerous undergraduate scholarships including:
- Need-based awards that provide a significant fraction of yearly in-state tuition
- Merit-based awards
- Competitive achievement awards
Scholarships for incoming freshmen
Scholarships are awarded to qualified freshmen as applications are received. Because funds are limited, interested students are encouraged to apply as soon as they have been admitted to the University of Washington. Scholarship recipients must declare an Oceanography major and make satisfactory progress towards their degree.
Scholarships for currently enrolled students
Eligible undergraduates are limited to matriculating Oceanography majors in good academic standing who will be enrolled for at least two quarters during the academic year (summer, autumn, winter, or spring). Students currently receiving scholarships must reapply every year. Awards are based on academic performance as well as financial need, and recipients are expected to maintain at least a 3.0 cumulative UW GPA. Students receiving financial aid should contact the UW Financial Aid Office regarding how winning a scholarship might affect their award. Scholarship winners will be announced by mid June.
Scholarship application deadlines will be in May. Exact date TBD.
