Students and researchers from the University of Washington took their first voyage Saturday morning aboard the R/V Rachel Carson.
The Carson replaces the Clifford Barnes in the University of Washington's School of Oceanography research fleet, bringing to new opprotunities for the study of coastal and inland waters of Western Washington.
