It appeals to the adventurer in us all. Imagine exploring hidden volcanic mountain ridges as expansive as the Cascades on a distant frontier nearly two miles below the ocean surface.

That's exactly what guests at Pacific Science Center will be doing August 20-28 as they watch a live video feed from the Axial Seamount and Hydrate Ridge, a volcano 9,000 feet beneath the ocean's surface on the Juan de Fuca Ridge. The live video feed will allow the public to witness, firsthand, the changes that occurred at Axial since its recent eruption in April of this year. The Juan de Fuca Ridge separates the Pacific and Juan de Fuca plates, about 300 miles off the coast of northern Oregon.
