Welcome Back & Welcome Aboard to Our New Graduate Students
Welcome back to campus and cheers to the start of autumn quarter! We are excited to have a new cohort of graduate students join us, get to know them below.
- Isabelle Brandicourt who earned a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Northeastern University. She will be studying Physical Oceanography with Dr. Abadi.
- Brooke Carruthers who earned a B.S. in Molecular and Cellular Biology from University of Arizona. She will be studying Biological Oceanography with Dr. Young.
- Yoichiro Dobashi who earned a M.Engr. in Ocean Science from Tokyo University of Marine Science and Technology. He will be studying Marine Geology and Geophysics with Dr. Wilcock and Dr. Schmidt.
- Kendall Fontenot who earned a B.S. in Coastal Environmental Science and a M.S in Physical Geography from Louisiana State University, Baton Rouge. She will be studying Marine Geology and Geophysics with Dr. Valentine.
- Ashley Howard who earned a B.S. in Engineering Physics from Colorado School of Mines. She will be studying Physical Oceanography with Dr. Szuts.
- Samanth Juber who earned a B.S. in Biology from Houghton College and a M.S. in Biology Oceanography from University of Kiel. She will be studying Physical Oceanography with Dr. Abadi.
- Tara Kalia who earned a B.S. in Chemistry and a M.S. in Chemistry from University of Chicago. She will be studying Chemical Oceanography with Dr. Pavia.
- Lacie Levy who earned a B.S. in Biology: Ecology, Evolution from University of Texas, Austin. She will be studying Biological Oceanography with Dr. Young.
- Claudia Luthy who earned a B.S. in Molecular and Cellular Biology from University of Puget Sound. She will be studying Chemical Oceanography with Dr. Ingalls.
- Andrei Medvedev who earned a B.S. in Physics from Lomonosov Moscow State University. and a M.S. in Physics from Lomonosov Moscow State University. He will be studying Physical Oceanography with Dr. Manucharyan.
- Raisha Rahman who earned a B.A. in Chemistry & Earth and Planetary from Harvard University. She will be studying Chemical Oceanography with Dr. Ingalls.
First Faculty Meeting Reminder
Our first faculty meeting of the school year is on October 2, 2024 in MSB 123 at 10:30am. Mark your calendars for the first Wednesday of every month!
2024 Oceanography Convocation
The School's Convocation will be held on Wednesday, October 2, 2024, (4:30-6:30) on the lawn west of the Ocean Science Building. Please join us in welcoming everyone back to campus and celebrating our community.
National Coffee Day!!!
National Coffee Day is on September 29, but we are celebrating it on Friday, September 27. Start the school year off with some caffeine! Stop by the admin suite (OTB 104) anytime from 10am-2pm to use our coffee machine and enjoy some coffee-infused treats!
