Ocean Currents 9/17/24
Our New Director - Welcome Aboard!
The School of Oceanography will be welcoming Dr. Hilairy Hartnett as our new Director starting in January 2025! Many of you have known Hilairy for a long time, and many more met her when she visited last Spring. Her research group focuses on field and laboratory measurements of carbon and nitrogen cycling in diverse systems including urban wetlands, to rivers, hot springs, and of course, oceans. Hilairy is fundamentally an ‘inter-disciplinarian’, with keen interests in astrobiology. She is leaving her professorial appointment in Oceanography and Biogeochemistry at Arizona State University to move to Seattle and steer our ship, and we couldn't be more delighted! Welcome Hilairy!
