Heavy Metal Pollution in Puget Sound Marinas and Shipyards - Took marine surface sediment samples at maritime-related sites in the Puget Sound to analyze for heavy metal content. Found elevated metal concentrations compared to average shale rock at every site, with the more industrial of sites like shipyards tending to be the most contaminated.

What was your best memory from the school of Oceanography?
Taking thesis samples during the early morning sunrise around Puget Sound.

What was your favorite oceanography class and why?
Global Ocean - Human Culture: I thought the historical connections between the ocean and human culture/society were deeply interesting.
