A trip to the ocean is a privilege, and one that doesn’t come around very often. But thanks to School of Oceanography professor Charles Eriksen, his team and their colleagues in the UW’s Applied Physics Laboratory, we can learn more about how the ocean works through seagliders. These buoyancy-driven devices operate for a full year for the same cost as a day of ship time — no wetsuit required.
