Data science is rapidly becoming critical set of skills for graduate students in Oceanography as the discipline transitions into the realm of Big Data. This ongoing shift is what initially inspired Oceanography to petition for the Advanced Data Science Option (ADSO) emerging from Oceanography’s participation in the NSF Big Data IGERT program.

Since then, a “Regular” Data Science Option (DSO) has been implemented to provide a more applications-focused path for graduate students as well. For more information, contact the Graduate Program Coordinator.
