Ocean Technology Center

Teaching CTD

A community makerspace:

The Ocean Technology Center (OTC) is a unique space where students can access resources and tools to learn about technology used to observe the ocean. Students work collaboratively to learn to use various ocean observing instruments as well as design, build, and test their own ocean sensors to address scientific questions. The OTC is located in the Ocean Teaching Building (OTB 051) and Ocean Technology courses are held in this space.

OTC Resources:

In the Ocean Technology Center, students have access to resources that enable them to be creative and further their understanding of ocean technology concepts.

  • 3D printers
  • Computer workstations
  • Electronics and ciruit building equipment
  • Soldering tools
  • Power tools
  • Sea-Bird CTDs
  • Testing tanks
  • And much more!

Student projects:

Through courses and independent work students have completed innovative projects in the OTC. See our Github page for a catalog of student projects!
