University-National Oceanographic Laboratory System (UNOLS) is an organization of 58 academic institutions and National Laboratories involved in oceanographic research and joined for the purpose of coordinating oceanographic ships' schedules and research facilities.
Over the past several months, UNOLS has gone through the process of soliciting and evaluating proposals to host the next UNOLS Office that will commence on May 1, 2019. This process has now been finalized and by majority vote of the UNOLS membership, the proposal from the University of Washington’s School of Oceanography with Captain Douglas Russell as UNOLS Executive Secretary has received an overwhelming endorsement from throughout the UNOLS community. The current office is located at the University of Rhode Island.
We are pleased to announce UNOLS' strong support for the University of Washington's proposal, and wish Captain Russell the best of luck in this new endeavor.
